Northwood Temple evens season series with CFCA

Northwood Temple Academy evened its Sandhills Athletic Conference basketball season series with visiting Cape Fear Christian Academy on Friday night by completing a sweep with a 66-42 win in the varsity boys game.

The hosts won took the varsity girls game, 50-41, and captured the junior varsity boys game, 40-35 to start the second round of league play.

CFCA had swept NTA at home on Dec. 14.

Ramiro Arrillaga led CFCA with 10 points on Friday night. Greg Moneymaker scored nine. Riley Adams totaled seven points. Lucas Capalbo had six points. E.J. Bethea and Dillon Butler finished with five points each.

CFCA slipped to 17-10 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

The NTA varsity boys (11-11, 2-4) hit 54 percent of their field goal attempts.

The CFCA girls (6-9, 1-5) got seven points from Jada Horne. Scoring six points each were Kristen Bass, Anslee McLamb and Aubree Bass. Meredith Taylor had five points before leaving the game with a throat injury and dehydration. Megan Taylor had four points. Talisha McNeill and Leah Brannon added three points each.

The CFCA junior varsity boys (10-4, 2-4) got 11 points each from Dolan Adams and DeShawn Woods. Zeke Brock had seven points. Jakson Cullen, Owen Gregory and Reid Miller scored two points each.

The CFCA high school teams visit Village Christian on Tuesday night.
