The Overhills varsity boys basketball team beat Pine Forest 75-68 on Senior Night for the Jaguars, earning a share of the Patriot Athletic 4-A/3-A Conference regular-season championship in the process.

Overhills and the Bulldogs each had 14-2 league records and both had a head-to-head win. Terry Sanford earned the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament by virtue of two wins over Westover. The Jaguars split with the Wolverines.

Junior Zavian McLean led Overhills with 27 points in the regular-season finale. Senior Pedro Gama had 22 points with three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and classmate Latrell Lloyd scored 11 for the Jaguars.

“It was Senior Night and our crowd was a big factor,” said Overhills coach Tony Lewis. “Pedro brought a lot of energy. His heart is as big as the outdoors.”

The Jaguars begin play in the league tournament at home on Tuesday.
