Overhills’ Perkins shows firepower on Military Appreciation Night

Overhills quarterback Chris Perkins threw for four touchdowns on Friday night but it wasn’t enough.

Visiting Terry Sanford stormed out to a 28-0 lead and the Bulldogs wound up with a 49-27 Patriot 3-A/4-A Conference varsity football victory on the Jaguars’ Military Appreciation Night.

Overhills fell to 4-3 overall and 1-3 in league play going into an open date.

The first score for the Jaguars came on a 73-yard pass play from Perkins to Nasir McDaniel with 4:30 left in the first half.

Overhills trimmed the lead to 28-21 on touchdown passes from Perkins to Darius Williams covering 50 and 35 yards in the third quarter.

A 46-yard Perkins-to-Williams connection cut the lead to 35-27 with 11:17 left to play.

The Bulldogs improved to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

Overhills returns to action Oct. 18 at Gray’s Creek.
