Overhills softball answers, advances

Overhills fell behind 5-0 against visiting Enloe in the second round of the NCHSAA 4-A softball playoffs and the Jaguars trailed 11-8 going into the bottom of the eighth inning.

Overhills scored four times in its final at-bat to walk off with a 12-11 win.

The Jaguars (18-5), the No. 6 seed in the Eastern bracket, visit Heritage (17-1) in the third round on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Sophomore Renee Lovett went 3-for-4 with four RBIs for Overhills on Friday. Kiana Jones was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and scored twice. Megan Meurer had two hits, scored twice and had two RBIs. Maaika Dones and Elizabeth Mitchell each had two hits and one RBI.

Bailey Neel had a hit and drove in a run. Taylor Nunn also had an RBI.

Nunn pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts. Six of Enloe’s runs were earned.
