Overhills turns back HC

Overhills improved to 2-0 in its 2019 varsity football season with a 41-14 nonconference win over visiting Harnett Central on Friday night.

Chris Perkins passed for four touchdowns and ran for another in the Jaguars’ first home game.

Tyler Gates started the scoring for Overhills with a 14-yard touchdown reception with 1:35 left in the first quarter.

A 3-yard keeper by Perkins gave the Jaguars a 13-0 lead. Brandon Booker’s 2-yard touchdown run got Central within 13-7.

Overhills led 20-7 at the half after a scoring reception by Nasir McDaniel.

A TD pass from Perkins and a 21-yard scoring run by McDaniel pushed the Jags’ advantage to 34-7 with 11:41 left to play.

Trey Williams hauled in a 44-yard touchdown pass from Jaden Bryant as Central closed the gap to 34-14.

Jailen Hobbs had a 6-yard touchdown reception for Overhills to complete the scoring with 1:22 to go.

Harnett Central slipped to 1-1 going into a game at Midway (2-0).

The Jaguars visit Western Harnett (2-0), which is coming off a 24-6 win at home over Smithfield-Selma.
