Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity baseball team got five RBIs from Conner Parrish in a 15-1 win in five innings over visiting Southside Christian of Clayton on Tuesday.

The Eagles improved to 3-3 going into their Mid-Carolina Conference opener at Crossroads Christian on Friday at 5 p.m. The #arriors slipped to 3-2.

“We could be 5-1 right now,” said CFCA coach Bill Parrish. “We made too many mistakes against Fayetteville Christian and Kerr-Vance. We said before this game, if anybody beats us, make it be the other team.”

The Eagles went ahead early as Taylor Smith had an RBI single in the first inning and a run scored on a ground out by Cole Godwin. Landon McLamb drove in two runs with a hit for a 4-0 lead.

The lead grew to 9-0 in the second as Smith had another run-scoring single and three runs came in on a double by Parrish. McLamb had a sacrifice fly.

A 4-run third for the hosts included RBI singles from Fisher Stancil, Parrish and Mason Gregory.

CFCA had 10 hits as Zeke Brock, Parrish, Gregory and Smith had two each. Brock, Parrish, Stancil and Godwin had multiple stolen bases as the Eagles had 15 steals.

Stancil started on the mound and did not allow a hit through three and two-thirds innings. He had six strikeouts without a walk in earning the win. Smith pitched the remainder of the game.
