Midway junior Logan Patrick shot a 1-under par 71 on Monday to lead the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 2-A golf tournament at the Longleaf Golf and Family Club in Southern Pines.
Patrick had a 2-shot lead over Ian Johnson of Lake Norman Charter. Patrick, the 2018 individual state champion, got off to a rough start with back-to-back bogeys but he recovered with four birdies for the remainder of the round.
The Raiders, the defending state champions, were in second place as a team going into Tuesday’s second and final round. Lake Norman Charter was in first place at 310 and Midway was at 323.
Scoring for the Raiders on Monday were freshman Caden Hodges with an 82, senior Jordan Sullivan with an 83 and junior Matthew Faircloth with an 87.
West Lincoln was third at 338 and East Lincoln was fourth at 339.
The course is playing 6,709 yards.
