Triton senior Ro’mello Pegues signed to play at North Carolina Wesleyan in Rocky Mount on Thursday in a ceremony at the school’s media center.

The All American Conference Player of the Year has a roster spot for the East in the annual North Carolina Coaches Association All-Star game at Greensboro Coliseum on July 21. Hawks coach T.J. Morrison will be an assistant for the East stars.

Pegues averaged 20.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.8 steals for a 19-10 team that reached the second round of the NCHSAA 3-A playoffs this season.

Wesleyan was 17-10 overall and 10-4 in the USA South Conference in John Thompson’s 30th season as coach in 2024-25.

“I love that he’s going there and will play for a great coach,” Morrison said. “Ro will learn, grow and flourish. I think he can be a really good player there.

“I’m really more excited about the opportunity for him to go to school and get that degree. That’s a great example for our younger players.”

Ro’mello Pegues was Player of the Year in the All American Conference.
