Triton scrimmaged for the second time in as many nights at the Harnett Jamboree at Campbell’s Barker-Lane Stadium on Friday.

The Hawks had four scores in a matchup with North Johnston before outscoring Southern Wayne, 3-1, at CU.

Triton hosted Pine Forest for a scrimmage on Thursday night after a session with Terry Sanford at Pine Forest on Wednesday night was called off due to inclement weather.

“I thought we were better than on Thursday,” Penny said after the second set of scrimmages. “The offensive line was getting after it, which we challenged them to do.”

Running back Kyle Dunkins of the Hawks sustained a knee injury against Pine Forest.

“Obviously losing Kyle is a blow to what we were trying to do offensively, but some other guys stepped up,” Penny said. “Defensively, we had some blown coverages. We are extremely young in the secondary and must work to get better. I thought the front is playing well right now.”

Triton opens the season at Enloe on Friday night.
