Midway closed its summer baseball season with a 2-1 win at Cape Fear on Tuesday night.
The Raiders were scheduled to host Hoke County on Thursday night but that game was called off.
Eli Culbreth pitched three scoreless innings against the Colts. Hunter Gainey yielded an unearned run.
Chandler Williford held the lead for the last three innings as Midway finished play in the Fayetteville-based summer league with a 6-3 record.
Christian Hairr had an RBI single for the go-ahead run.
Summer league play followed a championship in the East Central 2-A Conference in 2018 for the Raiders.
“If the pieces fall in place, we have a ton of arms,” said Midway coach Jason Fussell. “The kids played well in the offseason.
“I liked Chandler Williford’s leadership. He wasn’t scheduled to pitch Tuesday, but he warmed up and said he wanted the ball. I thought that was great.
“The best thing about the summer is the camaraderie and the cohesiveness. We excelled at that this summer. Going into fall workouts (Oct. 1), we’re looking pretty good.”
