Host South Granville, the No. 9 seed in the East bracket of the NCHSAA 2-A football playoffs, took a 44-21 win over No. 24 Midway on Friday night.
The Vikings (5-6) led 16-0 on a pair of touchdowns and 2-point conversions before the Raiders (6-5) got on the board on Wyatt Holland’s scoring pass to Kendrick Tyndall with 7:21 left in the half.
The Vikings led, 30-7, at the half.
The Raiders scored in the second half on a Holland pass to Jamir McCrae in the third quarter and a scoring reception by Nate Smith that drew the visitors within 36-21 with 7:31 to go.
South Granville travels to eighth-seeded Nash Central (6-5) in the second round.
