Midway football coach Barrett Sloan understandably was a little tired Saturday morning.
He had a busy schedule that started with a regular preseason practice on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Then there was a meeting with parents of the players. Then there was fun and games at midnight with players and coaches in team building activities that included sled pushing, tug of war and bucket carrying.
“They got after it,” Sloan said. “They don’t like to lose.”
Sloan said the Raiders have about 70 players out for junior varsity and varsity.
Midway will host scrimmages on August 12 that will include West Bladen, West Columbus and Hobbton beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Raiders won’t go head to head with the Wildcats, who will be their opening game opponent in Newton Grove on August 22.
Midway matches up with Triton in the Sampson Jamboree at Clinton on August 15 at 7 p.m.
