Midway’s varsity baseball team secured the East Central 2-A Conference championship with a 4-0 win over Wallace-Rose Hill on Friday night.
The game was scheduled to be played at Wallace-Rose Hill on Thursday night but was postponed and moved to Midway because of wet field conditions.
The Raiders were designated as the visiting team and took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third after a single by Casey Culbreth, who was 3-for-3 with three runs.
Jonathan Cooper was 1-for-4 with two RBIs for Midway.
Culbreth doubled in the fifth and Hunter Gainey had an RBI triple. Gainey scored on a grounder by Cooper as the Raiders pushed the lead to 3-0.
Culbreth singled in the seventh and took advantage of wild pitches by the Bulldogs to give Midway its last run.
Culbreth had five stolen bases and pitched a complete game. Culbreth allowed three hits and struck out nine.
Midway went 11-1 in the league and is 13-1 going into the NCHSAA playoffs. Postseason brackets are scheduled to be announced on Sunday.
