Raiders rally for varsity sweep at Hobbton

The Midway varsity boys basketball trailed, 19-13, at halftime at Hobbton on Friday night before coming back for a 43-34 victory.

Tripp Westbrook had nine of his 11 points after intermission as the Raiders improved to 4-1. Casey Culbreth had nine of his 10 points in the second half for Midway.

Mbagnick Dione and Israel Cook scored six points for the visitors. Adding five points apiece for the Raiders were Trey Gregory and Jamir McCrae.

Ashawd Wynn and Colby Weeks had 12 points each for the Wildcats. Jameek Joyner had eight points as Hobbton slipped to 2-2.

Midway won the girls game, 47-17, as freshman Elisabeth Kirkland had 26 points. Mckenzie Williams had six points for the Lady Raiders (3-2). Mallory Baggett added five points in the win and Jaycie Byrd scored four. Megan Jackson had two points and Leah Culbreth tallied one.

Hobbton (0-4) was led by senior center Gracie Jones with nine points.

Midway hosts Harnett Central on Monday night. The Wildcats are scheduled to play at home against Spring Creek on Tuesday, December 20.
