Former Harnett Central football and basketball standout Kaizer Ray is a redshirt freshman walk-on in the East Carolina football program.

Ray played on the offensive and defensive fronts at Central. He was a post player in basketball, averaging 7.3 points and 5.3 rebounds as a senior in the 2017-18 season.

Ray had offers to play basketball at the next level at Central, but chose to play football at ECU.

Ray is listed at 6 feet, 5 inches and 337 pounds on the Pirates roster. He played in a series at left tackle on offense in the spring game.

The offense topped the defense, 71-36, in the Purple-Gold game on Saturday at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
