Roundup: Senior Classic starts, JV boys down FC

The annual Senior Classic basketball tournament starts today at Cape Fear Christian Academy.

In the first game at 4 p.m., the Father Capodanno girls play Fayetteville Christian. The boys teams from those schools meet at 5:30 p.m.

At 7 p.m., the host girls play an alumni team from CFCA and at 8:30 p.m., the Eagle boys face Community Christian of Wilson/

The South Wake Sabers are scheduled to play Friday’s girls loser on Saturday at 11 a.m.

The boys consolation game is set for Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

CFCA advances to the girls championship on Saturday at 2 p.m. against the Father Capodanno-Fayetteville Christian winner.

The boys championship is scheduled for Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

The CFCA junior varsity boys took a 60-30 win at Fayetteville Christian on Thursday night to improve to 2-1 as Justin Chestnut had 18 points and 15 rebounds.

Conner Parrish added 11 points and five rebounds. Fisher Stancil scored eight points with five rebounds. Cade Godwin tallied seven points. Taylor Smith and Eli Shwaikeh each scored five points. Eli Burns had three points, Elijah Ellis had two points and Mason Gregory scored one point.

“We were very consistent on offense,” said Coach Bill Parrish. “We scored 13 points in the first quarter, 14 in the second, 16 in the third and 17 in the fourth.”

The event is a fundraising project by the CFCA Class of 2024.
