Salem evens series with BC Astros

BUIES CREEK — The Salem Red Sox got timely hitting and strong relief as they came out on the better end of a pitching duel Friday night, topping the Buies Creek Astros 4-2 at Jim Perry Stadium.

The Sox (7-2) overcame their second consecutive 14-strikeout night at the plate to knock off their hosts and earn their first road win of 2018. The Astros (4-5) suffered from sloppiness, as they registered three wild pitches, two hit batters and a passed ball.

Those miscues proved critical for Salem, as the Sox went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

Buies Creek took a 6-3 win over Salem on Thursday in the opening game of the series.

The teams meet again on Saturday (April 14) at 6 p.m.
