Jack White of Duke has been named the recipient of the Caulton Tudor Award given to the Triangle player who is most cooperative with media. Tudor was a member of the Angler basketball team that played 13 overtimes against Boone Trail on Feb. 29, 1964 at Campbell’s Carter Gym. He went on to an acclaimed career as a sports writer for The Raleigh Times, News & Observer and WRAL.com. Tudor passed away at age 70 in 2017. … The Kentucky Derby has been postponed to Sept. 5. … Carolina Panthers owner David A. Tepper will give $2.65 million through his foundation to help local communities deal with the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. … Houston Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt and wife Kealia Ohai donated $350,000 to the Houston Food Bank to aid in relief efforts during the pandemic.
