The Buies Creek Astros won the Southern Division championship in the Carolina League Mills Cup baseball playoffs by holding off host Winston-Salem, 6-5, in game three of the best-of-five series on Friday night. Seth Beer hit a three-run home run for the Astros in the sixth inning. Cody Bohanek, Jake Adams and Osvaldo Duarte had solo homers for the visitors. Tyler Ivey went seven and one-third innings with six strikeouts for the win.
