Caden Scarborough scored four goals Tuesday for Cape Fear Christian Academy in a 4-1 Mid-Carolina Conference varsity boys soccer win over visiting Cresset.

CFCA was dealt a 2-0 loss at Cresset on August 23 and fell behind 1-0 in the third minute of the second meeting.

“Our guys showed up today with the intention of winning,” said CFCA coach Bill Parrish. “Their early goal made us play even harder.”

A foul on Gunner Dorman in the box led to a tying penalty kick by Scarborough. A hand ball in the box allowed CFCA to go ahead to stay on a PK.

Scarborough escaped multiple defenders for his third goal high in the center of the net as CFCA led, 3-1, at the half.

Scarbrough angled a shot from the right side into the left portion of the goal in the 82nd minutes.

Scarborough had six shots on goal. Tyson Stephens came off the bench for three shots on goal. Dorman and Cade Godwin each had two shots on goal. Thomas Honeycutt had one shot on goal and contributed some effective play in the nidfield.

Justin Chestnut had five saves.

“Our defensive diamond consisting of Chris Crume at stopper, Micah AndeMichael at left back, Eli Burns at right back and Conner Parrish at sweeper was once again very tough and physical,” said Coach Parrish.

CFCA plays an MCC match at Crossroads on Friday.
