Second half better for Eagles

Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity boys basketball team scored just seven points in each of the first two quarters in a matchup with University Prep of Raleigh on Tuesday in the Crusader Christmas Classic at Grace Christian of Sanford.

Deshawn Woods scored 29 points and Jakson Cullen added 22 as the Eagles were more productive after intermission in a 91-57 loss.

“I felt much better about the second half,” said CFCA coach Dwain Ellis.

The Eagles (4-6) play Pungo today (Wednesday, December 22) at noon in the event at Grace Christian.

Reid Miller had four points and six rebounds for CFCA on Tuesday. Brandon Surles contributed two points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals. Trevor McLamb claimed six rebounds.

Point guard Zeke Brock (ankle) and forward David Okropiridze (strained knee) missed Tuesday’s game for CFCA.
