Senior Day softball shutout completes run-rule sweep of Wayne Christian

Cape Fear Christian Academy recognized seniors Glenna McLamb, Larah Tripp and Hailey Wangelin on Monday before the Eagles completed a nonconference sweep of Wayne Christian with a 10-0 win in five innings.

CFCA downed Wayne, 16-0, in three innings in the middle school contest.

Varsity Softball

McLamb, Gardner-Webb signee, pitched a 1-hitter with one walk and 14 strikeouts as CFCA improved to 9-0. Offensively, she had a double and scored a run.

Wangelin’s 2-run double ended the game in the bottom of the fifth as she finished with three RBIs.

Tripp had a hit, a run and an RBI.

Junior Kristina Kennedy, who has committed to George Mason, had a home run and three RBIs.

Megan Harrold had two hits and scored three runs. Hailey Dupree and Finley Phillips each had two hits and an RBI. Sailor Phillips scored a run.

The Eagles are ranked No. 1 among NCISAA 1-A teams and are No. 11 overall in the state.

Middle School Softball

Finley Phillips allowed one hit with eight strikeouts. On offense, she had three walks and three stolen bases.

Sailor Phillips had three hits with a double, three stolen bases and an RBI.

Kamryn Knight had an inside-the-park home run, a walk, two RBIs and a stolen base.

Kinsley Godwin had an inside-the-park home run, a single, an RBI and a stolen base.

Hailey Dupree had a double, a walk and a stolen base. Finlee Ring had a triple, a walk and an RBI. Lauren Jeffries had a walk and a stolen base.

Raylon Hood had a single and an RBI. Avery Denton drew a walk, was hit by a pitch and stole a base. Tianna McKoy had a single and two RBIs.

CFCA is scheduled to recognize eighth-graders before a home game with Old Mainstream on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

Middle School Girls Soccer

CFCA was defeated, 7-1, at home by St. John Paul II on Monday, but Knorah Whitmore had the first goal in two seasons for the Eagles in the second half.

CFCA hosts Crossroads in a middle school/varsity doubleheader on Tuesday beginning at 3:30 p.m,
