Seven Eagles earn all-state medallions in spring sports

Seven athletes from Cape Fear Christian Academy have been named to all-state teams for the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association.

Making the NCISAA 1-A baseball team from CFCA are Cole Godwin, Conner Parrish and Fisher Stancil.

The Eagles are represented on the NCISAA Division 3 (Classes 1-A and 2-A) softball team by Kristina Kennedy and Glenna McLamb.

CFCA placed Bailey Dorman and Ella John Dupree on the 1-A all-state unit in girls soccer.

Four of the Eagles are repeat selections including Godwin, Kennedy, McLamb and Dupree.

Godwin hit .449 with 26 runs batted in for a 13-5 team that won the regular season and tournament championships in the Mid-Carolina Conference before posting a 6-4 win at Pungo in the playoff quarterfinals.

Parrish, a sophomore, led the Eagles in on-base percentage at .651 and fielding percentage (.990).

Stancil was Player of the Year in the MCC as he hit .440 at the plate and compiled a team-best 2.31 earned run average on the mound.

Kennedy had a .525 batting average with nine doubles and 20 runs for a 9-6 team that reached the third round of the playoffs.

McLamb hit .478 with three home runs. She had a 1.34 ERA.

Dorman had eight goals in nine games for CFCA, the No. 4 seed in the 1-A playoffs. Dupree finished with five goals and six assists in 12 games. Dorman made all-state in volleyball and Dupree was all-state in tennis in the fall.

Dupree and Godwin are the only seniors among the seven who made all-state for the Eagles.
