Visiting South Johnston took a 3-2 nonconference varsity boys soccer win at Harnett Central on Monday night as South improved to 2-1 going into a home match tonight with Western Harnett.
Central (0-2-1) visits Overhills on Wednesday. Those teams tied 3-3 on August 16.
The hosts opened the scoring Monday as David Bautista scored on a breakaway in the 25th minute.
South answered to even the score at 1 with just seven seconds left in the first half on a penalty kick by Israel Montoya.
South got the next two goals for the deciding margin as Bryan Martinez scored in the 45th minute and Dylan Lambert tallied on a free kick in the 72nd minute.
Liam Peebles of Central closed the scoring in the 75th minute.
Zach Sippel and Jonathan Solis were credited with assists for the hosts.
Each team received red cards in the 78th minute.
The teams are scheduled to meet again at South on Sept. 4.
