Softball: Eagles follow playoff no-hitter with narrow road setback

Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity softball team defeated visiting Ridgecroft, 15-0, in three innings in the second round of the NCISAA Division 3 playoffs on Thursday as Glenne McLamb pitched a no-hitter with nine strikeouts and Larah Tripp hit a home run.

The Eagles advanced to a third round contest at Lawrence, which took a 2-1 win over CFCA (7-10) on Saturday.

Avery Lassiter had four RBIs against the Rams (7-10) for the Eagles on Thursday. Hailey Wangelin had two hits and drive in three runs. Megan Harrold had three hits and scored a run. Kristina Kennedy had two hits and scored three runs.

McLamb and Tripp each had two hits.

The Eagles outhit the Warriors, 7-2, in the third round. Lawrence (16-9) lost to Wayne Christian, 9-0, in the state semifinals.
