Seven runs in the third inning sent host South Johnston to a 12-6 Greater Neuse 3-A Conference baseball win over Cleveland on Tuesday afternoon.
The Trojans took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first in improving to 4-5 overall and 3-2 in league play.
Parker Wood walked with two out in the opening frame and Chase Carroll followed with a run-scoring double to left. Carter Johnson’s single to right brought in Carroll.
The big third inning began with a single by Dylan Bates. One-out walks to Wood, Carroll and Johnson forced home a run. Starting pitcher Dewayne Schneider helped his cause with a 2-run single as South took control.
The Trojans visit Clayton on Thursday at 7 p.m.
