Two solid scrimmages have South Johnston ready to host Western Harnett tonight to get the 2022 varsity football season underway.

The Trojans held Harnett Central scoreless on August 10 and outscored Midway, 3-1, on August 12 in the Sampson Jamboree at Clinton.

Connor Lee and Jamarieyon McDougald had scoring receptions against the Raiders. Aiden Williams had a touchdown run.

“Our key is our work ethic,” said second-year South coach Lee Webb.

The Trojans push the pace in practice and will implement an up tempo tonight.

South started the Webb era with a 41-6 win at Western last season in going 8-3.

The Eagles finished 2-8 in 2021 in their first year under Zach Tenuta.
