Southern Lee downs HC boys

Harnett Central traveled to Tri-County Six 3-A Conference champion Southern Lee in the first round of the NCHSAA 3-A boys basketball playoffs with the Cavaliers advancing, 53-29.

Central (14-11) got seven points from Adonye Fubara. Adding five points each for the Trojans were Jalaan Signal, Adam Jackson and Chase Mullins.

The Cavaliers, who will host Clayton (19-6) in the second round on Thursday night, led 15-5 at the end of the third quarter, were ahead 26-13 at half and took a 38-23 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Mullins had eight rebounds for the Trojans and Kasey Perkins had three assists.

Garrett Weis had three points for Central. Justin Perkins and Montrey McAllister scored two points each.
