The Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity boys soccer team received rings on Thursday night for winning the NCISAA 1-A championship. The presentation ceremony was held at halftime of the varsity boys basketball game.
The Eagles defeated Lee Christian, 4-1, at Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on October 29 in the state final.
Among the inscriptions on the rings is a line stating HISTORY MADE. CFCA earned a state championship in soccer for the first time despite starting the 2022 season 1-5-1.
The Eagles made a turnaround to finish 8-7-1, allowing just one goal in three playoff games.
All-state selections from CFCA included Jackson Breslin, Caden Scarborough and Tripp Selph.
CFCA golf coach Mike Shook, a soccer parent, was instrumental in getting the rings and served as master of ceremonies for the presentations.
The rings came in a display box that lights up when opened.
