South Johnston celebrated the 50th anniversary of its 1974 state championship girls basketball team with a reunion on Friday night. The team included Genia Beasley, whose No. 50 is retired at N.C. State, and Wanda Watkins, who went on to play, coach and serve as an athletic administrator at Campbell. The current Lady Trojans defeated visiting East Wake, 41-38, on Friday night. … The Campbell men’s basketball team was dealt a 77-43 Coastal Athletic Association loss at Towson on Saturday despite 15 points from Anthony Dell’Orso. … Wake Forest made 18 threes in a 90-65 win over visiting Louisville. … N.C. State was topped, 84-78, at home by Virginia Tech. … Np. 4 UNC was a 76-66 winner at Boston College to improve to 7-0 in the ACC. … Host Alabama Birmingham closed on a 26-12 run to defeat East Carolina, 69-61. … Duke alumnus Jeff Capel coached Pittsburgh to an 80-76 win over the Blue Devils in Durham. … In the NFL playoffs on Saturday, Baltimore downed visiting Houston, 34-10, and host San Francisco topped Green Bay, 24-21. Playoff matchups today include Tampa Bay at Detroit (NBC, 3 p.m.) and Kansas City at Buffalo (CBS, 6:30 p.m.). … Amateur Nick Dunlap shot a 12-under par 60 for a 3-shot lead at 27-under par in the PGA Tour event in La Quinta, California, going into the final round today (Golf Channel, 4 p.m.). … The Carolina Hurricanes host Minnesota today (Bally Sports South, 5 p.m.).
