Cape Fear Christian Academy’s swim team got its season underway on Saturday with a third-place finish among five teams in a meet at the Smithfield Recreation and Aquatic Center.

Southside Christian of Clayton was the host school.

South Johnston took first place in the boys standings with 212 points. Southside was second with 162 points. CFCA, with four swimmers, was third with 78 points. North Johnston (49) and North East Carolina Prep (14) rounded out the field.

CFCA coach Ashley Wachtel was pleased with the effort and potential she saw from the Eagles.

The next meet for CFCA will be January 10 at 4 p.m. at the Healthquest pool in Smithfield.
