Tar Heel baseball district play gets underway

District IV Tar Heel League baseball tournaments had games at three sites on Monday night.

In the 10-and-under division in Southern Pines, Angier defeated Parkwood 10-6. Western Harnett plays Erwin tonight at 6 and Angier takes on Sandhills at 8.

In the 12-and-under at Angier, play began Sunday with Sandhills posting a 14-1 win over Western Harnett. Sandhills downed Angier, 10-1, on Monday night and Angier topped Western Harnett, 7-1, to eliminate Western. Angier and Sandhills play tonight at 6. Sandhills can take the district title with a win. Angier would need to win two games over Sandhills tonight to capture the district championship.

In the 15-and-under in Broadway on Monday, Western Harnett turned back Erwin, 13-2, and Angier outscored Southern Pines, 23-18. First-round winners and first-round losers play tonight.
