LOS ANGELES — Team LeBron topped Team Steph 148-145 in a new format for the NBA All-Star game played Sunday night at the Staples Center.
The traditional East vs. West structure that had been in place since 1951 was scratched in favor of teams picked by LeBron James and Stephen Curry.
James had 29 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists as his team ended the game on a 25-11 run. James had the go-ahead layup with 34.5 seconds to go. He was named All-Star MVP for the third time.
Winning team members received $100,000 each.
Donovan Mitchell won the dunk contest and Devin Booker set a record in the 3-point shootout during All-Star weekend.
The 68th All-Star game will be in Charlotte on Feb. 17, 2019.
