Triton was scheduled to host Harnett Central, Lakewood and Western Harnett for a track meet on Thursday, but the event was postponed as authorities investigated a bomb scare after a note was found in a rest room at the school Thursday morning.
Harnett County sheriff Wayne Coats said the note stated, “two bombs, two locations, two days.” Students were evacuated to the football field and then were bused to nearby Gentry Primary School to be picked up by their parents or eventually they were allowed to drive home if they had a car.
Coats said bomb-sniffing dogs had been brought in to search the school. Students will be searched, Coats said, upon entering the school on Friday.
Hawks track coach Josh Canterbury said the meet had been postponed to Monday at 3 p.m. Central and Western have confirmed for the make-up date.
