Tri-County Six 3-A tournament finals set

The Tri-County Six 3-A Conference spring sports tournaments in baseball, girls soccer and softball have progressed to the championship matchups on Thursday (May 3) night.

In baseball, regular-season champion Southern Lee hosts No. 2 seed Western Harnett at 7 p.m. In girls soccer, Lee visits Union Pines at 6 p.m. and, in softball, Triton goes to Harnett Central for a 6 p.m. start.

The top two seeds in each bracket received first-round byes.

Baseball

In baseball at Union Pines on Monday, Harnett Central downed Lee County, 5-1, and the Vikings turned back Triton 12-2 in six innings.

At Southern Lee on Tuesday, Western Harnett topped Union Pines, 4-3, and Southern Lee defeated Central, 5-2.

Girls Soccer

In girls soccer on Monday, host Lee defeated Western 4-2 despite two goals by Eagles sophomore Ivett Vivas. Braelyn Barnes scored three times and had an assist as Harnett Central downed visiting Triton, 5-0.

Also scoring goals for the Trojans were McKinley Heston and Austin Bowling. Heston, Kelsey Camach, Alexis Gordon and Jolee Nicholson also had assists.

In the semifinals at Union Pines on Tuesday, Lee County won a shootout, 6-5, after a 2-2 draw with Southern Lee. The host Vikings downed Central, 3-1.

Softball

In softball at Triton on Monday, Western Harnett topped Lee 13-12 and the host Hawks advanced, 10-0, against Southern Lee. (See TRITON section)

Triton rolled past Union Pines, 14-1, and Central edged Western, 3-2, in the semifinals on Tuesday at Central.
