Southern Lee took a 74-52 Tri-County Six Conference varsity boys basketball win over host Harnett Central on Friday night to improve to 6-1 atop the league standings.
Conference-leading Central pushed its winning streak to 14 games by a 59-40 margin in the varsity girls contest.
Maliah Banks led the Lady Trojans (17-2, 7-0 TC6) with 13 points, 11 assists and three steals.
Jordyn Johnson-McLean added 11 points. Scoring 10 each were Syniah McMiller and Marcayla Jones. Lyndsey Brewer had seven points and Michaela Cabe netted five.
Jones grabbed eight rebounds and blocked two shots. Brewer pulled down seven rebounds. McMiller controlled six rebounds. Cabe contributed five rebounds and three steals.
Central opened by outscoring the visitors 17-4 in the first eight minutes. The Lady Cavaliers had an 11-9 advantage in the second quarter.
“We had some lulls,” said Central girls coach Chelsey Cabe. “We need to be more consistent, play from the opening tip to the final buzzer.”
The Trojan boys got 12 points each from Chase Mullins and Adonye Fubara. Kasey Perkins added 11 for Central (11-8, 3-4 TC6).
The Trojans travel to Western Harnett on Monday.
