Trinity Olive officially became the third senior from Cape Fear Christian Academy’s 2022 NCISAA 1-A softball champions to sign for the next level as she filled out forms Friday to join the program at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville.

Previously, Kim Bordeaux signed with Methodist and Mariah Bell inked with Mount Olive. Senior Claire Parker had an offer from Meredith for softball, but accepted a substantial academic scholarship to N.C. State.

Olive scored 13 runs and had seven RBIs for CFCA during a 19-5 season that culminated with a 7-6 win over Pungo Christian for the state title on May 21. She also was a member of the Eagles’ state championship team in 2019.

CFCA shared the Sandhills Athletic Conference regular-season title in 2022 and won the league tournament.

Olive is projected as a second baseman for the Rams, who were 20-23 overall last season and 9-18 in conference play. The program is coached by Karlyn Stephens.

“We played Trinity some in right field, but when we played her at second base, she made plays,” said CFCA coach Sterling Holmes. “She really matured as a senior.”

Olive also ran cross country and played basketball for the Eagles. She and Bell were Co-Female Athletes of the Year for 2021-22 at CFCA.

Trinity’s name represents groups of three and she wore No. 3 at CFCA. Southeastern assistant Steve Welsh said Friday she will have the same number for the Rams.

Trinity Olive looks to bunt for CFCA in the NCISAA playoffs.
