Tristan Ennis signed to play softball at Mount Olive on Tuesday in the media center at Triton.
Ennis hit .415 for the Hawks and led the team in runs with 32. Triton was 16-7 overall in 2022 and went 13-1 in the All American Conference for a share of the league’s regular season title.
“I’m excited,” Ennis said. “I’ve been playing since I started walking. To be able to do it for another four years is a good opportunity that I’m excited about.”
Ennis also has played golf and basketball for the Hawks.
“One thing about playing any sport here, it’s family oriented,” she said.
Ennis said she felt the same family atmosphere at Mount Olive, where she plans to study computer science.
“She’s going to be a good fit at Mount Olive,” said Triton coach Mark Whitman. “She’s somebody that’s not burnt out on softball. She hassn’t played a whole lot of travel ball since probably she was in the eighth grade. People say you’ve got to play on a big showcase team.
“It just takes a coach watching them play. I think she’s one of the best outfielders in the state. I think she’ll step right in and be a good fit at Mount Olive. She’s going to be a diamond in the rough. Coach (Mandy) Sansbury at Mount Olive has got a good one. I’m excited to see her play.”
