The Triton varsity boys basketball team snapped a 2-game losing streak with a 71-48 win at Smithfield-Selma on Friday night as senior Josiah Lett led the way with 19 points, 14 rebounds and eight blocked shots.
The Hawks (2-3) were ahead 17-11 after eight minutes and were on top 34-21 at the half.
Travion Sanders had 12 points for Triton and Dalen Thompson scored eight. Myshon Smith and Jamari Amerson scored seven points ea ch. Smith had seven rebounds and four assists. Keionta Burnett had six points.
Leyton Kelly and Tilghman Pope scored three points apiece in the win. Finishing with two points each were Harris Pope, Jaden Geddie and Luke West.
The Spartans (1-4) were led by Elijah Weir with 19 points and Jaylen Hinton with 17. Weir had seven steals.
The Hawks made 25 of 51 field goal attempts for 49 percent while limiting the hosts to 11 of 55 shooting (20 percent), helping the Hawks overcome 23 turnovers.
Triton hosts the Spartans on Wednesday night.
SSS wins girls game
SSS took a 45-33 win in the girls game despite a game high 13 points from Anastasia McDonald. Freshman Abby Hood had 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Lady Hawks (2-3). Kaila Cooney had 13 rebounds.
Triton had 24 turnovers and was 11 of 51 in field goal shooting (22 percent).
