The Triton varsity girls basketball took a 48-40 Tri-County Six 3-A Conference win at Lee County on Friday night as Ana-Beth Brewer led the way with 15 points.

“We played our best game of the season,” said Lady Hawks coach Keith Howard. “It was a great team win. Our defense was in control most of the game and our offense fed off that.”

Kathryn Elliott and Allure Smith had 11 points each for Triton. Adding four points each were Anastasia McDonald and Zoie Starling. Hannah Jackson had two points and Anaya Lockamy added one point.

The Lady Hawks upped their record to 6-18 overall and 3-7 in the league.

The Triton girls lost 57-34 at home to Lee on Jan. 27.

Triton boys fall victim to comeback

The Hawk varsity boys saw a 23-13 halftime lead dissolve and lost, 56-47.

“We did it to ourselves,” said Triton boys coach T.J. Morrison. “We didn’t defend as well. We relaxed and throught the game was over.

“We turned the ball over against their 2-2-1 press that we work against every day.”

Maurice Williams led Triton (13-11, 4-6) with 12 points. Chrishaun Henry had 10. Kalil Hodges and Shiquan Cox scored nine points each. Travion Sanders had four points and Terry Cooney added three.

“We played great defense in the first half, maybe the best all year,” Morrison said. “They hit a few 3-pointers in the third quarter and their press hurt us.”
