Triton girls win meet at S. Lee

Triton won the girls Tri-County Six 3-A Conference track meet at Southern Lee on Thursday with 64 points. Western Harnett was second with 44 points and the Cavaliers were third with 33.

Southern Lee won the boys meet with 93.5 points. The Hawks were second with 43.5 points and Western was third with 36.

The Triton team of Rachel Jernigan, Sarah Pope, Ashley Wachtel and Kyndall Thomas won the girls 4×800-meter relay in 14 minutes, 47 seconds.

Sarah Phillips of the Hawks won the girls 100 hurdles in 18.87.

Triton’s Santana McLamb won the girls 400 in 1:20.75. Safari Gilbert of the Hawks won the girls 300 hurdles in 55.12. Jernigan took the girls 800 in 3:32.52.

Sydney Morrison, Madeline Scott, Ashley Tew and Jacolia Watford of the Hawks won the girls 4×400 in 5:45.

Morrison won the girls high jump as she cleared four feet, two inches.

Shiquan Cox and Christion Green of Triton each cleared 5-8 to share first place in the boys high jump. Green won the triple jump (38-7.5).

Winners for the Western girls included Taija Pruitt in the triple jump (30-6.5), Romari Perkins in the 100 (13.49), the 4×200 relay team of Namilla Lee-Leach, Alexandria McLamb, Pruitt and Gionni Thomas in 1:58.45 and the 4×100 team of Adrionna Blue, Tenejah McDougald, Perkins and Thomas in 53.12.

Asher Prince won the shot put (47-8.5) and the discus (155-0) for the Eagles boys. Taft Cummings of Western took the 1,600 in 5:19.91. Joshua Antoine of the Eagles won the 400 in 54.72.

Antoine, Jaysten McLean, Kahlil McLean and Joshua Morell won the boys 4×400 in 3:57.5.
