Triton’s varsity boys basketball team participated in a jamboree at Sandhills Community College on Wednesday (June 11).
The Hawks were topped 64-54 by Person County to start the day and then lost 77-59 to Friendship.
Triton regrouped to top Jack Britt, 61-52.
“We defended better and played smarter,” said Hawks coach T.J. Morrison of the win over the Buccaneers.
The Hawks were initially scheduled to play Grace Christian of Sanford, but Grace couldn’t make the jamboree and Britt was their replacement.
Morrison noted his team was not at full strength with several players in Myrtle Beach with the Dunn PAL team.
The Triton coach was pleased with contributions from Kalil Hodges, Travion Sanders, Emari White, Tre’sean McLeod, Colby Parker and B.J. Cox during the course of Wednesday’s action.
The Hawks had developmental opportunities in previous jamborees this summer at Friendship and Middle Creek. Triton also had a scrimmage at home against Clinton.
