Triton’s varsity softball team won a 24-0 rout in four innings over visiting All American 3-A/4-A Conference opponent E.E. Smith Friday.
“We hit the ball,” said Triton softball coach Mark Whitman. “Tonight, the girls sat back and waited on it and they all hit it and they all hit it hard. I thought pitching went well. Aubree (Bass) did what she had to do. Shelby (McLamb) came in and closed it out and did well. We hit the ball well all the way through the lineup for the most part. I’m pleased. Good way to end the week. Gets us over .500. We come back next week against Terry Sanford and hopefully handle our business there and keep rolling.”
Sophomore starter Aubree Bass and freshman reliever Shelby McLamb pitched two innings apiece to combine for a no-hitter for the Hawks (4-3, 4-0 AAC). Bass recorded the win and gave up no runs on no hits and no walks, with four strikeouts. McLamb yielded no runs on no hits, one walk and one hit batter, with four strikeouts.
Bass had four hits, including a home run, three RBIs and one run scored and sophomore Stephanie Davis had four hits, including a double and a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored to lead Triton at the plate.
T.K. McLean had three hits, including a double and a triple, three RBIs and four runs scored. Kimah Warren had three hits, including a home run, three RBIs and one run scored. Gracie Byrd had two hits, including a double, and four runs scored. Tristan Ennis had one hit, one RBI and two runs scored. Ashley Pope had one hit, one RBI and one run scored. Ava Blackman and Grace Wilson each had one hit and two runs scored. Jaliyah McDougald had one hit and one run scored. Reagan Bradham had one RBI. McLamb and Caylon Avery scored one run apiece.
