Today is the first day of fall. … Cape Fear Christian Academy’s middle school volleyball team improved to 4-0 with a pair of wins at Fayetteville Academy on Monday. (see photos inside) The CFCA middle school boys soccer team lost 6-0 at Fayetteville Academy but did not yield a goal in the second half. … Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey will be out multiple weeks with a high ankle sprain. … Bubba Wallace reportedly will drive a car owned by Michael Jordan next year on the NASCAR Cup series. … Las Vegas improved to 2-0 with a 34-24 win over New Orleans in the Raiders’ new $2 billion stadium Monday night as Derek Carr threw for three touchdowns. … The Los Angeles Lakers take a 2-0 series lead into tonight’s NBA playoff matchup with Denver (TNT, 9 p.m.). … Oakland became the first division winner in the major leagues on Monday night, clinching the American League West with Houston’s 6-1 loss at Seattle.
