Varsity rolls into MCC final

The Cape Fear Christian Academy varsity baseball team scored 18 runs in the first inning and overwhelmed visiting Lee Christian, 21-1, in three innings in the Mid-Carolina Conference tournament semifinals on Thursday.

The Eagles (10-7) assured a winning season and play at Crossroads on Friday at 4 p.m. for the championship.

Taylor Smith had five RBIs. Conner Parrish and Cooper Davis had four each.

Smith pitched two scoreless innings and Mason Gregory finished on the mound.

CFCA drew nine walks and had seven hit batters.
