Village Christian took a 16-2 Sandhills Athletic Conference baseball win in six innings at Cape Fear Christian Academy on Wednesday in a matchup of teams that were unbeaten in league play.

The Knights improved to 10-2 overall and 5-0 in the SAC as seventh-grader Hunter Hedgecoe went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs in the leadoff spot.

CFCA slipped to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the league as senior DeShawn Woods had two hits with a triple, a run and several nice plays in center field.

Trevor McLamb had a hit and scored a run. Barrett Raynor had a run-scoring bunt as the Eagles pulled within 6-2 in the second. Zeke Brock drew a pair of walks.

Village pulled away with three runs in the fifth and seven more in the sixth.

“We hit the ball right at them and they made plays,” said CFCA coach Andrew White.
