State athletic program has caused a shutdown of activities for NCSU fall sports. … Duke has secured a football commitment from Trent Davis, a running back from Etowah High School in Attalia, Alabama. Davis ran for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior. He had 21 catches for 412 yards with five TDs. … East Carolina has received a basketball commitment from Russell Felton of Aiken, S.C. As a junior, Felton averaged 24 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals for a 24-4 club. … Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney and staff are taking voluntary 10 percent pay cuts for the remainder of the fiscal year. … The Los Angeles Clippers bounced back from a loss at the buzzer to Dallas on Sunday to blast the Mavericks, 154-111, on Tuesday night, taking a 3-2 lead in the series.
