A four-run third inning sent Western Harnett past visiting Charles B. Aycock to a 5-3 win in the first round of the NCHSAA 3-A baseball playoffs on Wednesday.
Bradley Wilson started and went six innings as the Eagles improved to 13-14 going into a second-round game at D.H. Conley (21-5) on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Wilson yielded just two hits but issued seven walks. He allowed three runs (two earned) while striking out four.
Andrew Kelly finished on the mound, striking out four.
Caleb Scott had a hit and two RBIs for Western. Devonte Sanders and Collin Welch each had one hit and one RBI for the Eagles. Noah Kessler went 2-for-2 and scored twice. Wilson had one hit.
