Western kicker Dillon Smith signs with Mars Hill

Western Harnett kicker Dillon Smith was seated with his parents, Dawn and Matthew, as he signed with Mars Hill. On the back row from left are athletic director Russell Taylor, football coach Blake Culbertson and football assistant Dalton Hardee.

Western Harnett kicker and punter Dillon Smith has signed with Mars Hill.

Smith averaged 43.7 yards on 38 punts for the Eagles in 2019 with a longest of 66 yards and 10 inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

He was Western’s leading scorer with 36 points as he made 15 of 16 conversions and 7 of 11 field goal attempts.

His longest field goal was 50 yards. Smith had 23 touchbacks on 36 kickoffs.

Mars Hill was 5-6 last season and 4-4 in the South Atlantic Conference. Lions kicker Tanner Fox was a junior in 2019.
