Western wins Tar Heel Junior district baseball

Western Harnett won the Tar Heel Junior League (15-and-under) district baseball championship on Wednesday night in Broadway.

Western defeated Angier 12-0 in the championship game.

Angier reached the final with a 6-4 win over Erwin.

Midget (10-and-under) baseball

In the 10-and-under district tournament, which is being played at Southern Pines, Western Harnett downed Parkwood, 12-0, and Sandhills won a winners’ bracket matchup with Erwin, 12-0.

Games tonight (Thursday, July 12) included Western vs. Angier at 6 and that winner vs. Erwin at 8 p.m.
